The monthly travelling circus is back. MEPs will head to Strasbourg for the first time since February but will have to survive with only one assistant each. The question now is: who are the "lucky" aides that get to go to Alsace?
Far from fighting each other for the limited spots on the Gravy Train to Strasbourg, assistants are coming up with ludicrous excuses not to accompany their lawmakers down south, as the pandemic continues to make travelling a less-than-appealing prospect.
One aide said his brother had been attacked by a parrot and now needs round the clock care, while another is living wild on Schuman roundabout until this all blows over.
